We've Moved

After a week of crazy cleaning spree... My family have officially move to Kuang, Sungai Buloh on 22 November 2009... But will still stay at both places Setiawangsa and Kuang...

Life's here is very old and slow... People here are old... Shops here are old... KTM is slow... Everything is in slow motion here... The whole area is kinda secluded from the hustle and bustle city life... Very "kampung"... The nearest supermarket The Store is like 20 minutes away... Yes, once you leave the city, you get to enjoy goats, chickens, dogs, cats and crickets "talking" every now and then... No kidding...

Okay... Enough of complaining... Back to the move... 3 days before moving in, we're required to "sprinkle" every room with salt, tea leaves and rice... 3 days later, we can sweep it and start the "move in" process... First of all, burn the talismans at the front of the house. Then, burn some silver papers at the front and back of the house. Next, stick another talismans on top of the door... At the same time, start the charcoal stove and fan it. Later, sprinkle the whole house with "holy" water. Followed suit, with my dad holding the bucket of rice; mum taking the cutleries; me holding the basket of fruits and my sis with the flowers... All walked over the stove and shouted "HUAT ARGH!!!" Lastly, fire crackerzzz....

Talismans to "protect" and keep the family in harmony... ^^^

The Confused Clown

It's been a while...

First up... Congrats to KH for leaving the single hood... And to Carrie, congrats for becoming Mrs Lee... XD

I think this is the first official 2 together photo... Carrie was unaware that I'm taking the photo... ^^^

Costing Presentation is this coming Friday... I'm only now done compiling the stuff and now busy jamming all the 2 ETs (Equity Theory and Expectancy Theory) things into my brain... Hopefully this time around I won't need to kick my own ass for sucking up in the presentation... Memorising is not a problem... The main issue is Stage Fright!!! This "demon" has been haunting me once Im in college... In kindergarten, I volunteered myself to sing in class... I represent my class for dual-acting in Secondary school... In PLKN, I even did a group presentation for a 1200-strong audience... LOL... Now? Even speaking out loudwhile sitting down too make my voice tremble... Haiz... When can I ever overcome this battle??

With 2 essays and 1 group report in hand... I'm yet to start a thing for it, though I have done notes taking for Costing essay... Gone to the National Library for some research on PPD essay-Plagiarism but come to no avail... So, end up finding for stuffs for Costing... I'm kinda lazy nowadays... I think many of you have definitely felt it... I used to be called "Gan Jiong Dai Si" in FIC era... because I start my assignment as soon as I get them... But now no more... I tend to delay... Procrastination is the word... I know...

The next BIG thing in life is The Big Move... It's just around the corner... I'm very excited about it... Very!!! Might shift to Kuang and be a local there next year... Now, still have to run both places... No open house... But will invite you guys for a sit... Most probably in December Christmas time...

Too many things happened recently... Really sucked at time management this time around... But things will be back to normal from next week onwards... =)

Red Bricks

Whenever I see orangey-red bricks, my primary school Lai Meng will just pop out in my mind...

She is 80 year old this year... Wow... Only 25 years younger than SJI... XD

Hence a carnival and a grand dinner gala were held in conjunction of that... Plus, this will be the last big event for the school at this compound at Jalan Ampang before moving to Bukit Jalil...

Based on the cover of the school mag... The new school is quite huge... But I will miss the red bricks... =( ^^^

The current plot of land (10587.5 sq m) was sold to Magna Prima Bhd for RM148.2 mil. And plan to build a 50-stirey Class A office building, a 38-storey serviced apartment tower, and a 2-level retail podium, worth RM1.3 bil.

Well... Some stuffs are added to the class... A computer, a projector and 2 new wall fans... ^^^

This is where I used to sit!!! Right in front of teacher and next to Siti... The chairs are so cute and tiny... LOL... ^^^

The canteen definitely look so much smaller... I remember when I was young, the canteen was so huge with it's high ceiling... ^^^

As usual... The staff room is so cluttered with mountains of books... ^^^

Fences are now all over the school... Separating the front portion from the back... KH and Winnie attempting to climb out but the exit is just behind them... Jamie calling the cops?? XD ^^^

Time Can't Buy

Okay... The lesson for the day is... Appreciate your precious time...

Tick tock... Tick tock... Time is running out, rite?? ^^^

I used to be envious with people who are so damn busy with their assignments and stuff... Seriously... I think that those people are fully utilizing their time... Not like me... Playing a fool... Going here and there... Spending money like nobody business... Enjoying life, I would say... Well... That time I was having plenty of free time... But now, with assignments running towards me... Pressures started to rise... Realizing that time is a factor to be considered... Cost Accounting, I have 1 presentation, 1 essay and 2 reports in my hand... PPD contributed to my stress with currently 1 paraphrasing and 1 summary... I can finally feel the hectic life of a Degree student...

I'm so happy now, finally experiencing an under-graduate life... LOL... =.=

To be honest, for me, assignments don't really bother me a lot on time wise... But with the Big Move disease already hitting me hardly... I think my time is now countable... In fact, I'm very more interested with the Big Move rather than my coursework and stuff... Wrong mindset, I know... But this is my first time... Please understand... =) Coming weekends will definitely be super busy as the much anticipated purchasing event will take place... Furnitures, Curtains, Culinary ware etc... And not to forget, discussions and researches too will take place on weekdays... And I haven't even started my paraphrase and summary work!!! God, Lai Meng carnival is next Saturday!!!

Damn... I need more time!!!

I'm really excited with the Big Move... I hope it won't be a distraction to my study... Okay, I know it has greatly affect-ED my concentration on academics...

But I will try to control it... =)

Yesterday I got to deal with the lost of a friend... A friend I met in my primary school till high school... yet I'm never been close to him... Perhaps the most memorable thing I can recall of him is... the smile when we met each other in school... Today I have to deal with the arrival of a new family member... My uncle's wife just gave birth to a baby girl... She's in her pink of health... Well... by judging on her weight of 1.3kg+...

How ironic... You can mourn at a time... And the next you're celebrating life...

Life is like a stage... People are like actors... We come and go... This is the rule of the stage play name Life... We came in quietly and go quietly... In fact, I used to think that... The main reason we're born into this world... Well... is to die...

Life's Too Short

It was raining... I was doing PPD in the last minute...
And a sms, I received... It was from Kam Fatt...

"Kam Fatt here, I found news about Boon Jim. He was found dead in his dorm room this morning. For more details, check out The Cornell Daily Sun."

I was in a state of shock at the moment... I immediately put away my papers and pencil and switched on my laptop...

Lim ’13 Found Dead in Dorm Room

Boon Jim Lim ’13, a freshman in the College of Arts and Sciences, was found dead in his dorm room early Monday morning. Lim resided in Clara Dickson Hall and was last seen by his neighbors on Thursday. An investigation is continuing into the cause of his death, which appears to be accidental, according to Tony Craddock ’10, the residential advisor on Lim’s hall.

Lim was pronounced dead at 3:55 a.m. on Monday by paramedics from Bangs Ambulance. The paramedics and Cornell University Police responded to Lim’s dorm room after resident advisors discovered his body.

Craddock entered Lim’s room around 3:45 Monday morning after a graduate student who knew Lim’s family told Craddock that no one had heard from Lim in several days. Lim was close with his family, who live in Malaysia, and spoke to them often.

The Cornell University Police Department is investigating Lim’s death with help from the Ithaca Police Department, according to Simeon Moss ’73, director of Cornell Press Relations.

“No foul play is suspected,” Moss said.

The death appears to be accidental, Craddock said. Several residents on Lim’s hall said they did not know of any previous medical conditions that may have contributed to his death.

Residents near Lim’s room first noticed something unusual over the weekend, when a strong odor spread through the hall, said Ilyas Kuzembayev ’13, who lived next door to Lim.

Craddock said he thought the smell was coming from the bathroom. He only discovered it came from Lim’s room when the door was opened Monday morning. Lim’s body was found lying in his bed, where it apparently had been throughout the weekend.

Lim came to Cornell from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He frequently spoke to his family in Malaysia and kept a family picture on his desk, said Oscar Coaquira ’13, who befriended Lim during orientation week.

Cornell notified Lim’s parents of his death on Monday, Moss said.

Residents of Dickson Hall described Lim as a quiet but friendly student.

“He was always quick to ask you how you’re doing. [He was] very enthusiastic about life,” Craddock said.

Hiroshi Hikida ’13, who lived next door to Lim, said Lim was quiet and reserved.

“He was more of the studious type,” Hikida said.

“He always had a really big smile and laughed a lot,” Coaquira said.

Lim’s death came as a shock to those who knew him.

“I don’t think anyone saw this coming,” Hikida said.

“I didn’t want to accept it,” Coaquira said. “I can’t imagine going the rest of the year without seeing Boon Jim and hearing his laugh.”

Students on Lim’s floor attended a meeting with the Dickson residence hall director on Monday night to discuss where they could find emotional support.

The Office of the Dean of Students will plan a community support meeting for people who need support or want someone to talk to about Lim’s death, Moss said. Details about the meeting will be released in the next few days.

A memorial service will also be arranged in conjunction with Lim’s parents, Moss said.

Lim Boon Jim was a superbly bright student. He was a PTS student who skipped std 5, a straight A for UPSR, PMR and SPM... He was admitted to Cornell with JPA scholarship... He was and is a gem in high school... besides book smart, he was a pro in chess and scrabble... He was quiet yet funny... Undeniably, the brightest student I have ever known...

Though I was never close to him from Lai Meng to St John's... But being knowing him is some kind of fate, I guess... Such a waste...


Life is short... Life is unpredictable...

And here... My deepest condolences to Boon Jim's family...

Getting Better

Kinda fed up with Hotlink... Applied last Sunday and no reply till (5 days later) I went to Maxis Center at Time Square to ask them to resubmit... Haiz... typical Malaysian working attitude... Maybe that Indian girl who deal with my submission last Sunday was in her Deepavali mood... Okay, I understand your excitement... XD Then on Friday, this guy did a resubmission for me. Right after I left the store, I immediately received a sms regarding my application.. Now that is what I call EFFICIENCY... =) Well, the story didn't end there... Recently, I tried mms with my sis... and it was fine... But tonight it was problematic... Tried 3G with my dad... and it's not working... !@$!@$... Damn frust wey... FYI, my hotlink had been activated... Changed my caller ringtone too... =)

Back to Friday... after Hotlink thingy, went on to GSC and watch Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 3D... With Siu Hun, Pei Wen, Cho Nee, Xin Yi, Meng Li and Pui Yee... The show was ok... 6/10 I would give... =) It was cute and colorfully done about the relationship between a eyebrow-covering eyes father and a cool hair mad scientist son... After the movie, Pei wen and Cho Nee went off to Petaling Street to meet up the sisters... While the remaining wanted to have lunch... Pui Yee, the avid singer suggested to go cheong k since we can sing and eat at the same time but Neway was packed and so we head on to Greenbox at Sg Wang. And yes... it was crowded as well... Hence, we decided to have just plain lunch at the restaurant opposite Greenbox... Had chicken chop rice with jasmine green tea... =)

After that, we were longing for entertainment and so bowling popped out just like that... We walked back to Time Square... It was cheap for student RM3.50 + RM2 for shoe rental per game... Xin Yi won in the game end... While Pui Yee and I shared the second spot... =) As the game ended, since it's still kinda early, and so coincidentally, we passed by the arcade... Yes, you guess it right... We walked in and enjoyed ourselves... XD

Saturday was not just Deepavali but Open House Day... I was invited to 2 Raya open house, 1 Deepavali open house, 1 outing at pavilion. The outing was then canceled on Friday night due to low attendance... Poor KH can't meet us up before he went for STPM war... As for Lavenia's Deepavali open house, we decided not to go since people in the class had their own programmes... The first raya open house of the day was Harith's...

Thanks to Alex once again for being the driver... =) Wnt to the Shell petrol station to wait for Chin Choa while Harith will come and lead us to his house at Kampung Changkat... Journey to his house was HECTIC... Roads are so small... hence traffic there was horrible... And after some parking issue, we finally reached his house... It was bungalow in a kampung area... It was a Family house... Family, I mean the whole famiy generation is under one roof... LAst year I came to his open house too... But this year was VERY much better... O.O

I think this is by far the grandest Raya open house... No, this is the mother of all open house I have been to!!! 8 huge tents, 8 stalls, colorful decorative... It was almost like a Fun fAir minus the balloons... FYI, his father sells chicken rice only... It's pretty famous at taman Melati area... =) Foods are of various kind... From Ice creams to Satay, From BBQ lamb to Beef organs... O.O About the lamb thing... Of my observation, the workers there carried out 3 lambs already and I was there for only 1 hour+ ... I was speechless...

How can a person be that rich by selling chicken rice?? Alex told me the restaurant manage to sell 1000 chickens a day... I was like... O.O Lol... I was kinda... well... envy of course... XD

Anyhow, not forgetting Deepavali on Saturday!!!
